Heitsenrether has been with the bank for nearly 40 years, previously led its prime brokerage and securities services units, currently serves as chief data and analytics officer, and sits on the bank\u2019s 12-person operating committee, according to the report.<\/p>\n

The bank\u2019s chief technology officer, Scot Baldry, will add Heitsenrether\u2019s title and responsibilities, although he won\u2019t join the operating committee, per the report.<\/p>\n

Heitsenrether has led JPMorgan\u2019s AI strategy for the past three years. During that time, the bank became a founding member of Anthropic\u2019s Project Glasswing, which includes trusted users with access to the AI company\u2019s Mythos models, and Heitsenrether drove the development of the bank\u2019s large language model that is now used by most employees.<\/p>\n

JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon and Chief Operating Officer Jennifer Piepszak wrote in a memo announcing Heitsenrether\u2019s upcoming retirement, per the report: \u201cTeresa has played a pivotal role in building and transforming some of our most important institutional businesses and, most recently, in shaping the firmwide data and artificial intelligence strategy that is central to our future.\u201d<\/p>\n

It was reported in June 2023 that Heitsenrether\u2019s appointment as head of JPMorgan\u2019s then-new data and analytics unit was part of the bank\u2019s larger push toward AI.<\/p>\n

Dimon said at the time that AI \u201cis critical for the bank\u201d and \u201ccritical to our company\u2019s future success.\u201d<\/p>\n

Heitsenrether had previously served as head of the securities services business for eight years. That business had $29.7 trillion in assets under custody at the time.<\/p>\n

PYMNTS reported Thursday (June 25) that JPMorgan Chase promoted two executives to potentially succeed Dimon as CEO. Doug Petno and Troy Rohrbaugh, co-CEOs of the bank\u2019s commercial and investment bank business (CIB), were named co-presidents of the bank.<\/p>\n
