Apple might not have hiked the price of the iPhone 17 range this week, but the same likely won\u2019t be true for the iPhone 18 Pro later this year.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Earlier this week, the multi-billion-dollar company jacked up prices on everything from budget iPads to workstation\u2011class Macs, blaming what it calls an \u201cextraordinary surge\u201d in the cost of memory and storage used in AI data centres.<\/p>\n

But while many of Apple\u2019s most popular products now cost more \u2013 and in some places, a lot more \u2013 there was one product line that remained untouched. The iPhone. Head over to the Apple Store and you\u2019ll see the same \u00a3\/$799 starting price for the iPhone 17 as last week.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Now, while you might assume that Apple is just doing everybody a solid by keeping its iPhone more attainable, I don\u2019t think that\u2019s actually the case \u2013 especially when the rumoured iPhone 18 Pro and foldable iPhone drop in a few months\u2019 time.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

A lot of Apple products just got more expensive<\/h2>\n

Apple isn\u2019t a company that\u2019s usually known for cheap, affordable tech \u2013 but that didn\u2019t stop it from hiking prices across many of its products this week.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The company says it has \u201cnever seen a component price increase this much, this quickly\u201d and claims it\u2019s \u201cworking tirelessly to find solutions\u201d, but for consumers, it essentially boils down to paying more for the same kit.<\/p>\n

On the Mac side, the budget-friendly Mac Mini and MacBook Neo are both up by \u00a3\/$100, now at \u00a3\/$799 and \u00a3\/$699 respectively, while the MacBook Air has jumped by \u00a3\/$200 to \u00a3\/$1,299.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Higher up the range, the MacBook Pro has climbed from \u00a3\/$1,699 to \u00a3\/$1,999, and the Mac Studio with M4 Max is up \u00a3\/$500 to \u00a3\/$2,499. The wildest jump is reserved for the M3 Ultra Mac Studio, which now costs a whopping \u00a3\/$5,299, a \u00a3\/$1,300 leap from its previous \u00a3\/$3,999 RRP.<\/p>\n
