Apple\u2019s transition to OLED displays across its product range is reportedly gathering pace, with new supply chain reports indicating production has begun on display panels for the next-generation iPad mini ahead of a possible launch later this year.<\/p>\n

According to reports from South Korea, Samsung Display has started manufacturing OLED screens for Apple\u2019s compact tablet, marking another step in the company\u2019s gradual move away from LCD technology across its devices.<\/p>\n

The OLED iPad mini is expected to build on the display technology first introduced to the iPad Pro in 2024. By adopting OLED, the smaller tablet is tipped to deliver richer colours, deeper black levels, improved contrast and greater power efficiency than the current LCD model.<\/p>\n

The latest report also suggests Samsung Display will soon begin producing OLED panels for a future MacBook Pro using its new 8.6-generation production line. Industry analysts believe the upgraded notebook could eventually become Apple\u2019s first MacBook to feature touchscreen functionality, although its release is still expected to be some time away.<\/p>\n

Samsung is reportedly playing a major role in Apple\u2019s future display strategy. In addition to supplying panels for the OLED iPad mini and MacBook Pro, the company is expected to provide displays for Apple\u2019s first foldable iPhone.<\/p>\n

LG Display is also expected to remain a key supplier, with reports indicating it will manufacture OLED panels for the Apple Watch Series 12. Meanwhile, Chinese display manufacturer BOE is believed to have missed out on supplying displays for Apple\u2019s next-generation premium iPhones following reported quality concerns during earlier production.<\/p>\n

Apple has not officially confirmed the OLED iPad mini or provided a launch schedule. However, ongoing reports from the display supply chain suggest development is progressing, with many industry observers expecting the device to arrive before the end of the year.<\/p>\n
