Most of us have experienced it at one time or another \u2014 but what if the problem wasn\u2019t so much your heavy sleeping, but more the fact that your iPhone alarm was going off completely silently, meaning it never had a chance of waking you up in the first place?<\/p>\n<p>That seems to be what\u2019s happening to a number of iOS users, with several of them complaining that silent iOS alarms have risked or even cost them their jobs.<\/p>\n<p id=\"elk-4d871c30-fc7a-41d3-b077-7ded3267d677-2\">In a since-deleted post on Reddit, user Jeremy_keister said that although their iOS alarm had been set and went off in the morning, it did so silently, making it next to useless. The situation, they said, \u201chas practically lost me a job.\u201d Similarly, user okeanouszeke said the same issue had actually \u201ccost me a job.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"inline-flex items-center gap-1.5 text-sm font-article-heading capitalize leading-5 text-white whitespace-nowrap\"><span class=\"jwp-carousel-title-mobile\"\/><span class=\"jwp-carousel-title-desktop\">Latest Videos From<\/span><span class=\"jwp-carousel-brand inline-flex items-center\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/span><\/span><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.techradar.com\/media\/img\/techradar_logo_v2.svg\" alt=\"\" class=\"max-h-12 w-auto\" aria-hidden=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Clearly, there\u2019s something going on here, and a little investigation suggests that it might be to do with the volume settings in iOS. If you happened to look at your iPhone display while the alarm was going off, you\u2019d see it trying to alert you \u2014 but with no volume, you wouldn\u2019t hear a thing.
