One of Tata’s iPhone plants in India has been the victim of a cyberattack said to have taken over 630GB of confidential data concerning both Apple and Tesla.\n<\/p>\n

It’s not clear from reporting so far whether the Tata plant in India is the same one in Hosur, Tamil Nadu that has recently come under fire for allegedly contaminating local water. What is known, according to Reuters, is that the stolen data includes 33 files and folders relating to Hosur.\n<\/p>\n

“A few weeks ago, Tata Electronics identified a cybersecurity incident on some of our systems,” said a Tata Electronics spokesperson. “Our response protocols were deployed immediately, and the incident has had no impact on our operations across businesses, which remain unaffected.”\n<\/p>\n

It’s not confirmed that the data is genuine, but hacking group World Leaks claims to have released over 200,000 files from the factory, totalling more than 630GB of data. As well as the Hosur references, it includes files with names such as “com.apple.factorydata,” and Apple documents referring to “material specification.”\n<\/p>\n

There is also a 52-page document concerning quality inspection standards for the iPhone’s circuit board.\n<\/p>\n

A security researcher reviewing the material on the dark web reports that Apple’s data also included passport copies of employees, plus years of event logs.\n<\/p>\n

Just as with the Apple materials, it has not been confirmed that data regarding Tesla is accurate. But it claims to include drawings for Highland, a revised Model 3 car that was released in 2023.\n<\/p>\n

There is also a more recent manufacturing assembly document dated May 2025. Plus references to parts used in the Model Y SUV.\n<\/p>\n

A second researcher claims that data regarding both companies has been available since June 10, 2026.\n<\/p>\n

World Leaks is known for extortion, with its most notable target so far being Nike in January 2026. Tata would not confirm whether its attack was a ransomware one.\n<\/p>\n

Apple has not commented publicly. However, an unspecified source…<\/p>\n
