Now, thanks to a program supported by the National Science Foundation, he\u2019s hoping to get it out to the marketplace.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:black;\">Das \u2014 a faculty member at the <\/span><span style=\"color:black;\">Thomas J. Watson College of Engineering and Applied Science<\/span><span style=\"color:black;\">\u2019s <\/span><span style=\"color:black;\">Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering<\/span><span style=\"color:black;\"> \u2014 has <\/span><span style=\"color:black;\">one patent issued<\/span><span style=\"color:black;\"> and <\/span><span style=\"color:black;\">another one pending<\/span><span style=\"color:black;\">. He recently received $100,000 from the University\u2019s Excellence in Entrepreneurship and Discovery (EXCEED) program, supported by an NSF Accelerating Research Translation (ART) grant. He plans to use these funds for prototyping, data collection, and the evaluation of the Binghamton University inventions, to encourage a startup company to build a commercial model for industry partners.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>As AI data centers proliferate and scale<span style=\"color:black;\">,<\/span> and AI hyperscalers like Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud push for increased performance, challenges have emerged in powering critical AI graphics processing units (GPUs). Moore\u2019s law \u2014 which for many years promised that the number of transistors on a microchip would double every two years \u2014 has reached its limit.
