The Arnau de Vilanova University Hospital in Lleida has completed the comprehensive renovation of its obstetrics area with the transformation of 700 square meters on the fourth floor and the opening of 11 birth care rooms.<\/p>\n

The reform changes the care model in a center that registered 2,300 births last year and will now allow pregnant women to remain in the same room during dilation, childbirth, and immediate postpartum, after replacing facilities that had become obsolete.<\/p>\n

The new rooms are individual and have their own bathrooms. They also incorporate ropes and other elements to facilitate exercises during dilation.<\/p>\n

In addition, the hospital has equipped a room with a bathtub for natural births. This resource had been available since 2010, but its use had been limited by a lack of privacy.<\/p>\n

Anna Sim\u00f3, block supervisor, is confident that the new configuration will increase the use of natural childbirth<\/strong> among women who opt for this route.<\/p>\n

On the same floor, high-risk cases will continue to be attended in the obstetric operating rooms. The hospital thus maintains differentiated care based on the complexity of each birth.<\/p>\n

Maria Jos\u00e9 Pelagay, head of Obstetrics at the hospital, explained that the action responds to the need to replace facilities that had become outdated.<\/p>\n
