Will your mortgage application be approved? During wartime, whose neighbourhood would a weapon system target? These are moral choices \u2014 about harm and fairness \u2014 and they used to be made by people. <\/p>\n<p>Now moral choices like these are made by artificial intelligence (AI) and by the companies developing it. Ordinary people, not just technical experts, need to set the moral standards this regulator enforces.<\/p>\n<h2>Morality at speed<\/h2>\n<p>Developers are not necessarily careless or cynical.
