\n\t\t\t\t\t\tFans visiting Baseball Village during the Men’s College World Series have the chance to step onto the mound and see how hard they can throw, thanks to a pop-up experience from the University of Nebraska Omaha’s Sports Medicine and Biomechanics Lab.The setup features a pitching mound equipped with a radar gun and a Rapsodo tracking device, which measures more than just pitch velocity. The technology analyzes factors such as spin rate, ball movement and pitch characteristics, providing a detailed look at how a baseball travels from the pitcher’s hand to the plate.According to Cameron Jensen, a Ph.D. student with UNO’s biomechanics program, the data can help pitchers better understand and refine their pitches.The technology showcased at Baseball Village is also used at UNO’s biomechanics facility, where athletes undergo motion-capture evaluations and throw from force-plate-equipped mounds. Researchers use that information to identify mechanical issues, improve performance and reduce the risk of injury.Jensen said the lab’s capabilities have attracted athletes from across the country, with some traveling to Omaha specifically to take advantage of the facility’s technology and expertise.While the Baseball Village experience gives fans a chance to test their pitching skills, it also offers a glimpse into the science helping athletes stay healthy and perform at a higher level.\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
