WWDC 2026 was all about software, with new versions of iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and more unveiled. But while hardware didn\u2019t take center stage, it was present in the background, with Apple hinting at (and in some cases all-but-confirming) its long-rumored foldable phone, believed to be called the iPhone Ultra.<\/p>\n

These clues came in announcements, software changes, and even buried deep in code, and combined, they strongly point to the iPhone Ultra not just being in the works, but probably launching soon.<\/p>\n

So, below, we\u2019ve detailed the various WWDC clues that hint at the iPhone Ultra\u2019s existence.<\/p>\n

1. Mentions of a foldable phone in iOS 27 beta code<\/span><\/h3>\n

iOS 27 framework references \u201cfoldState\u201d and \u201cangleDegrees\u201d but I\u2019m sure that\u2019s nothing pic.twitter.com\/PcYNVvymmsJune 8, 2026<\/p>\n

Perhaps the most telling sign of the iPhone Ultra’s existence can be found within iOS 27 itself, as code within the first beta found by Sam Henri Gold contains mentions of \u201cfoldState\u201d and \u201cangleDegrees.\u201d<\/p>\n

Both of these references seem like they\u2019d only be relevant to foldable devices, and since the mentions are in an iOS beta, they evidently concern an iPhone, specifically.<\/p>\n

This code also isn\u2019t present in iOS 26, so it\u2019s been newly added, suggesting that checking for fold states will be relevant before the launch of iOS 28. That in turn means we\u2019ll probably see the iPhone Ultra before too long \u2014 with most leaks pointing to September.<\/p>\n
