This is the Foxtron Cavira, a potential direct competitor to the Tesla Model Y built by a company that almost certainly built your iPhone.<\/p>\n

The thing is, the name Foxtron may not ring a bell, but it should.<\/p>\n

Partly because its parent company built nearly every iPhone and iPad over the last 10-15 years.<\/p>\n

But also because, interestingly, it builds everyone else\u2019s phones as well.<\/p>\n

This new EV is a potential Tesla rival, but there\u2019s a problem<\/h2>\n

The Cavira is an electric SUV that is available with a rear motor, with 359 miles of range and 249 horsepower, or with two motors.<\/p>\n

This versions puts out 468 horsepower, with a 0-60 of 3.8 seconds, and offers up to 334 miles of range, which is Tesla Model Y territory.<\/p>\n

Both versions have an 82.7 kWh battery, which charges from 10-80 percent in less than 30 minutes.<\/p>\n

The interior follows a familiar EV theme with very few buttons in sight, minimalist design, and a massive screen.<\/p>\n

In this case, the Foxtron Cavira comes with a vertically oriented, 15.6-inch display, which is actually quite uncommon as most EVs \u2013 and most cars in general \u2013 feature horizontal displays these days.<\/p>\n

The price is also attractive: the Cavira has an MSRP just north of $38,000.<\/p>\n

For now, the only problem is that this ideal Tesla rival is only available in Taiwan, and there\u2019s no mention of a US launch in the near future.<\/p>\n

Where have we heard about this before?<\/h2>\n

Foxtron is a division (in partnership with Yulon Motor) of Foxconn, one of the largest hardware manufacturers in the world.<\/p>\n

Foxconn has manufactured the vast majority of iPhones, alongside massive shares of iPads, Kindles, Nintendo systems, Sony PlayStation consoles, and devices from Google and Xiaomi.<\/p>\n

As for Foxtron, the company is moving fast.<\/p>\n

Founded in 2020, it has already unveiled eight vehicle platforms and concepts, recently launching production models…<\/p>\n
