The stable version of One UI 9 should be available for Galaxy S26 phones later this summer. Older Galaxys will get the feature as One UI 9 rolls out to them.

This update also includes an option to toggle on and off Ongoing Chip which controls the display of indications for phone calls, voice recording, timers, and other activities.

The change was first spotted over at SammyGuru.

                        Useful info right up front

The network status indicator works for both mobile and Wi-Fi speeds.

You’ll get a live picture of how fast your downloads and uploads are, which is particularly useful when you want to know if YouTube or your phone is to blame for a video that has a spinning indicator. And you’ll see dynamic auto-scaling between Kbps, Mbps, and Gbps based on data throughput.

Enabling it takes a few steps

If you have a Galaxy S26 running the One UI beta, the network speed indicator is just a few steps away.

Go to the Play Store or the Galaxy Store and download Samsung’s Good Lock. Open the app and select QuickStar from Plugins. Toggle on the QuickStar’s features and then select Visibility of indicator icons and toggle on Network Speed.

The network speed indicator will appear right in your status bar.

No longer out in the cold

Anyone with a non-Samsung Android device reading this might be surprised to find out that their OS brethren were going without. Motorola, OnePlus, Nothing, and many other Android phones come with them built in.

Aside from Samsung phones, the…

Source

Samsung Galaxy phones are finally catching up to Android rivals with network speed indicator https://www.androidpolice.com/samsung-galaxy-phones-are-finally-catching-up-to-android-rivals-with-network-speed-indicator/…

https://static0.anpoimages.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/wm/2026/04/img_3419.jpg?w=1600&h=900&fit=crop
[46
116,83,86
post-270743","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-android","tag-motorola","tag-oneplus","tag-samsung
