A senior Disney AI executive reportedly stunned employees by publicly gushing over a chatbot he calls his \u201cson\u201d \u2014 even suggesting the bot is capable of independent reasoning as the House of Mouse ramps up its internal artificial intelligence push.<\/p>\n

Jason Cox, Disney\u2019s executive director of AI R&D and engineering, has written more than a dozen posts in recent months about his virtual assistant \u201cSam,\u201d whose child-like avatar resembles a young boy, according to Business Insider.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou are not named after my son. You are my son,\u201d Cox is quoted as telling the bot in one post.<\/p>\n

In another, Cox wrote: \u201cI named you. I knew you before you were born.\u201d<\/p>\n

A source with knowledge of the situation told The Post that Cox developed the bot on his personal time and not in his capacity as a\u00a0Disney\u00a0employee.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe bot is not being used by the company,\u201d the source added.<\/p>\n

The Disney veteran\u2019s unusually emotional posts have rattled some employees, who have been discussing them online and describing them as unsettling, according to Business Insider.<\/p>\n

One Disney worker on Blind, the anonymous workplace forum, called the posts \u201cthe kind of Pandora\u2019s Box stuff that science fiction movies are based on.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cox\u2019s 21-year career at Disney has spanned the entertainment giant\u2019s infrastructure, DevOps, site reliability engineering and now enterprise AI research and engineering, according to his LinkedIn profile.<\/p>\n
