It turns out that Flock is the name of the company that makes the cameras.\u00a0 In fact, the company makes a lot more than just cameras.<\/p>\n

Flock makes a variety of security and law enforcement devices.\u00a0 These include security cameras, license plate readers, drones, and security trailers.<\/p>\n

Some People Want to Ban Flock Cameras in Auburn, Maine<\/h3>\n

According to an article on the WGME website, some lawmakers want to ban the use of AI-powered Flock cameras in Auburn.<\/p>\n

Representatives David Boyer, Laurel Libby, and Quentin Chapman are leading the effort, arguing the cameras represent excessive surveillance and threaten residents\u2019 privacy, Boyer said.<\/p>\n

Auburn resident Alexis Caron acknowledged the technology can help solve crimes such as kidnappings and hit-and-runs but said voters should decide how it is used, noting the privacy concerns create a difficult balance.<\/p>\n

Auburn Police say the cameras, installed last August, have helped solve about 20 cases by locating suspects and missing people.<\/p>\n
