The directive said that \u200cbecause the window to respond to hacks was potentially narrowing, &#8220;we must take immediate action to harden American networks&#8221; and make sure government policies for applying fixes are up to the task.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Reuters first reported last month that U.S. officials were considering the adoption of a three-day \u200cdeadline to deal with potentially dangerous flaws.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Even \u200bunder the new directive, there is still \u200bmore time to deal \u200bwith less severe weaknesses, such as ones that are \u200cnot easy for hackers and cybercriminals \u200bto automate, or \u200bdo not concern publicly exposed digital infrastructure.
