Noblesville Schools has new cellphone and technology policies for the 2026-27 school year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

An email was recently sent notifying parents and guardians of students who attend Noblesville Schools about the changes, which come following a wireless communications devices policy-related bill that the Indiana General Assembly passed during the most recent legislative session.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cNew state law prohibits student use of personal wireless devices (such as cell phones, smartwatches and smart glasses) during the school day,\u201d the email states. \u201cThis law means personal devices must be powered off and stored in lockers (grades 6-12) or cubbies (grades K-5) during the school day, including during lunch time and passing periods.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the email, students can use devices on the bus and before and after the school day bells. Students with documented medical or educational accommodations will work with their school team to discuss specific needs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Elementary students and parents who need to communicate during the school day will be able to through their school office. Middle school and high school students will have a new communication tool, Student Square, which will be part of the Parent Square software, a communication and family engagement platform that allows students, parents and teachers to directly communicate during the school day.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Parents must have the Parent Square app and students will need to download the Student Square app on their school iPad for this service. Students can only message parents and teachers through this tool, and communications will be monitored by the school.<\/span><\/p>\n

The email states that YouTube access for students also will change. Students in kindergarten through eighth grade will have access to specific teacher-developed YouTube learning content only. High school students will continue to only have access to YouTube educational content on their school iPad.<\/span><\/p>\n

All elementary schools also will now keep student iPads at…<\/span><\/p>\n
