A\u00a0new trend is\u00a0gaining momentum on\u00a0Facebook Marketplace: sellers are adding images of\u00a0attractive girls generated by\u00a0artificial intelligence to\u00a0their ads for used cars, motorcycles, and special equipment. This is\u00a0supposed to\u00a0make the offer stand out from thousands of\u00a0similar ones, but in\u00a0practice it\u00a0only brings the authors a\u00a0bunch of\u00a0views and spam from pranksters.<\/p>\n

As\u00a0Business Insider reports, a\u00a0classic move like \u00absex sells\u00bb in\u00a0the digital space of\u00a0personal ads has received an\u00a0unexpected AI\u00a0reinterpretation.<\/p>\n

A\u00a0striking example is\u00a0the experience of\u00a0Rogelio Llamas from Southern California, who has been trying to\u00a0sell his 2013 Jeep Wrangler for 19 weeks. To\u00a0make his ad\u00a0stand out from the competition, he\u00a0added an\u00a0image of\u00a0a\u00a0curvy woman in\u00a0a\u00a0bikini, denim shorts, and cowboy boots, leaning on\u00a0the hood, to\u00a0his photos of\u00a0the\u00a0car. Only the girl turned out to\u00a0be\u00a0completely unreal\u00a0\u2014 Llamas created her using a\u00a0neural network.<\/p>\n

The seller spied the idea from one of\u00a0the YouTube bloggers who teaches reselling things. According to\u00a0Llamas, influencers advise generating girls with non-standard forms, and not according to\u00a0the usual model standards. This supposedly creates an\u00a0effect of\u00a0intrigue and causes a\u00a0reaction like: \u00abDamn, is\u00a0she really real?\u00bb<\/p>\n

This trend has already gone viral on\u00a0Reddit and X\u00a0(Twitter). Users are posting dozens of\u00a0screenshots of\u00a0generated AI\u00a0models posing against the backdrop of\u00a0abandoned hot tubs, old Mercedes, dump trucks, and Caterpillar heavy machinery. Most of\u00a0the photos clearly show the characteristic \u00abartifacts\u00bb of\u00a0neural networks: strange body proportions, unrealistic lighting, or\u00a0too smooth skin.<\/p>\n

However, it\u00a0turns out that attracting attention doesn\u2019t guarantee sales conversion. Llamas admits that after adding the AI\u00a0\u200b\u200bbeauty, the number of\u00a0views for his Jeep Wrangler skyrocketed, but there were no\u00a0more serious buyers.<\/p>\n
