During a special meeting on Friday, the commission discussed AI usage in political advertising and reviewed how other states regulate the issue. Boone noted that a number of states, including Texas, Utah, Minnesota, and Colorado, have enacted rules related to AI in political ads, while Oklahoma currently has none.  &#8220;We talked a lot about what has happened in other states. There are over 30 states that have enacted something as related to artificial intelligence and political ads,&#8221; Boone said.  The commission is cautious about potential constitutional issues that could arise from regulating speech content but is prioritizing transparency and disclosure.  &#8220;While I think the commission&#8217;s very interested in doing something as strong as they can do, I think they&#8217;re, of course, leery of delving into that world where there might be a constitutional issue as far regulating content of speech. The primary concern is disclosure right now,&#8221; Boone said.  The commission does not have emergency rule-making authority, meaning any action they take will require time. Meanwhile, Gov. Kevin Stitt has threatened to call a special session for lawmakers to address what he described as the misuse of AI in political ads.  When asked whether a special session should be held, Boone declined to comment on the idea.
