There are three vital AI stories that surfaced this past week that deserve attention and focus. Two of the stories will not surprise you, but the last one might.<\/p>\n

This blog will unpack President Donald Trump\u2019s new executive order (EO) on AI as well as Anthropic\u2019s announcement about expanding Project Glasswing to many more global organizations. I will save the last topic as a surprise, but you can scroll down and peak ahead to the ending of this piece, if you must.<\/p>\n

PRESIDENT TRUMP\u2019S NEW AI EO<\/h3>\n

As highlighted by numerous global media outlets including GovTech, \u201cAn executive order signed by President Donald Trump on Tuesday highlights security considerations and directs specific federal agencies to take actions intended to strengthen cybersecurity.\u201d<\/p>\n

First, the June 2, 2026, White House EO entitled \u201cPromoting Advanced Artificial Intelligence Innovation and Security\u201d can be found here.<\/p>\n

Second, the Federal News Network analysis and commentary provides helpful context: \u201cThe White House is directing new federal cyber guidance and the establishment of an artificial intelligence cybersecurity \u2018clearinghouse\u2019 under a highly anticipated AI executive order.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the Tuesday executive order on AI innovation and security, President Donald Trump directed agencies to work with the private sector to both modernize systems and \u2018harden them against external threats.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cThe EO notably directs several agencies to establish a voluntary system for the government to evaluate advanced frontier AI models for cybersecurity risks before they\u2019re released publicly.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe executive order has been in the works for weeks. It comes in response to advancements in new AI models, particularly the Anthropic Claude Mythos model preview, that showed their ability to far outpace humans in identifying and exploiting new cyber vulnerabilities.\u201d<\/p>\n
