The technology also enables\u00a0the scaling of mass surveillance<span class=\"external-link-icon\">Opens a new window <\/span>\u00a0to new extremes. AI agents like OpenClaw<span class=\"external-link-icon\">Opens a new window <\/span> have continued to go rogue<span class=\"external-link-icon\">Opens a new window <\/span> despite being embraced by tech giants like Nvidia<span class=\"external-link-icon\">Opens a new window <\/span> and Meta<span class=\"external-link-icon\">Opens a new window <\/span>, leaking or deleting sensitive information.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this spring, I attended Semafor World Economy in DC, where 500 CEOs joined government leaders to discuss the state of global business, including AI\u2019s impact on security and privacy. That directly pits implementation and efficacy against risk tolerance. Still, popularity has skyrocketed<span class=\"external-link-icon\">Opens a new window <\/span>\u00a0over the last two years, especially for\u00a0sensitive use cases such as<span class=\"external-link-icon\">Opens a new window <\/span>\u00a0healthcare<span class=\"external-link-icon\">Opens a new window <\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Since Proton\u2019s founding in 2014, long before AI use exploded amongst everyday consumers, the company has offered users  privacy-first alternatives<span class=\"external-link-icon\">Opens a new window <\/span> to tools from the Big Tech likes of Google, Microsoft, and Meta. However, Yen doesn\u2019t think the rise of AI tools has popularized data privacy concerns amongst the public.
