Smiths Detection has announced that its Explosives Detection System (EDS) HI-SCAN 10080 XCT advanced X-ray computed tomography system for hold baggage and air cargo has successfully progressed from the \u201cApproved\u201d section to the \u201cQualified\u201d section of the U.S. Transportation Security Administration\u2019s (TSA) Air Cargo Screening Technology List (ACSTL).\u00a0<\/p>\n

The ACSTL serves as TSA\u2019s official guide for regulated parties to use when procuring screening devices. While devices listed as Approved\u201d have successfully completed formalised TSA-sponsored testing processes, inclusion in the \u201cQualified\u201d section reflects proven operational performance under real-world conditions, meeting the highest standards for security and reliability in the aviation sector.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The HI-SCAN 10080 XCT is equipped with a dual-view dual-energy X-ray line scanner with full 3D volumetric computed tomography imaging and reconstruction, enhancing the speed, efficiency and safety of hold baggage and air cargo screening. The system delivers a belt speed of 0.5 m\/sec (98.5 ft\/min) and features a large 107 x 81 cm (42.1 x 31.9 in) rectangular tunnel, designed for seamless integration into fully automated and networked baggage and material handling systems. This enables operators to screen up to 2,500 parcels per hour while maintaining high detection performance.<\/p>\n

In addition, it is TSA 7.2 certified for high-speed checked baggage screening and meets ECAC EDS Standard 3.1.\u00a0<\/p>\n
