{"id":260825,"date":"2026-06-01T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-06-01T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news-you-need.com\/index.php\/2026\/06\/01\/infosecurity-europe-owasp-forms-new-agentic-research-council\/"},"modified":"2026-06-01T06:10:11","modified_gmt":"2026-06-01T10:10:11","slug":"infosecurity-europe-owasp-forms-new-agentic-research-council","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news-you-need.com\/index.php\/2026\/06\/01\/infosecurity-europe-owasp-forms-new-agentic-research-council\/","title":{"rendered":"Infosecurity Europe: OWASP Forms New Agentic Research Council"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.infosecurity-magazine.com\/news\/owasp-new-agentic-research-council\/\">Infosecurity Europe: OWASP Forms New Agentic Research Council<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.infosecurity-magazine.com\/news\/owasp-new-agentic-research-council\/\">https:\/\/www.infosecurity-magazine.com\/news\/owasp-new-agentic-research-council\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Publish Date: <a href=\"publish_date]\">2026-06-01 04:00:00<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Source Domain: <a href=\"www.infosecurity-magazine.com\">www.infosecurity-magazine.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>At Infosecurity Europe 2026, the Open Worldwide Application Security Project (OWASP) will formally unveil the Agentic Research Council, a coordinated research effort created to close the widening gap between fast\u2011moving agentic AI capabilities and the slower pace of conventional security research and standards.<\/p>\n<p>The Agentic Research Council is being launched from within OWASP\u2019s GenAI Security Project by its Agentic Security Initiative, the same community that produced the well\u2011adopted Top 10 guidance for LLM security.<\/p>\n<p>It will be formally announced during Infosecurity Europe\u2019s OWASP GenAI Summit, on Thursday, June 4.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Aligning Research with Industry Concerns About Agentic AI <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Speaking to Infosecurity ahead of the event, John Sotiropoulos, co-lead and board member of OWASP\u2019s GenAI Security Project and Agentic Security Initiative, framed the new council as the next step in a project whose core strength is combining broad community input with expert validation.<\/p>\n<p>He described the Agentic Security Initiative as \u201cexpert backed, but community driven.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Council is intended to create a global collaboration between academia, industry, government and policy makers so research can be prioritized, aligned and converted into deployable mitigations more quickly than traditional standards cycles allow.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUp to now, we, at the Agentic Security Initiative, have been focusing on cybersecurity practitioners, on CSOs, CISOs, developers.
