It doesn\u2019t matter that they consume much more energy, are worse for the environment, more dangerous, and less maneuverable than cars; if you want to get behind the wheel, it needs to be that of a semi.\u00a0<\/p>\n Cops, EMTs, delivery drivers, NASCAR racers, teenagers in driver\u2019s ed, and residents of large cities who must maneuver narrow streets and parallel park in tight spots \u2014 they all either have to drive one of these behemoths or walk.<\/p>\n Oh, and because the trucking industry is so powerful, they\u2019ve lobbied to do away with most regulations regarding the safety and efficiency of semis.<\/p>\n How do you think that would go over?<\/p>\n By the way, that\u2019s not to say that 18-wheelers don\u2019t have some uses. They are a great tool for hauling goods across long distances, moving extremely heavy objects, and maintaining a seamless supply chain.<\/p>\n However, it would be foolhardy to force people into driving them if they don\u2019t use their vehicles for any of these things \u2014 and one would think that, no matter how much money the trucking industry spends on lining the pockets of lawmakers, politicians would figure out that nobody else wants this.<\/p>\n Well, it\u2019s kinda like that with artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n First of all, there is no doubt that AI has some uses and, as the technology progresses, the number of applications to which it adds value will likely increase.<\/p>\n For example, any…<\/p>\n |
