AMD\u2019s next generation of processors is moving forward, with new signs about Zen 6 appearing in Linux.<\/p>\n

As usual in the tech industry, the first clues about future products often do not come from official announcements. Instead, they appear in open-source updates. Recent Linux kernel patches show that AMD is expanding support for its \u201cZen 6\u201d design, which suggests a much larger product lineup than first expected.<\/p>\n

AMD engineers have been adding Zen 6 support across Linux. This includes CPU detection, better power management, compiler improvements, and support for new instruction sets, with several upgrades for AVX-512.<\/p>\n

Zen 6 Linux Patch Expands CPU Range by 32 Models<\/h2>\n

Before this change, the Linux kernel was set to detect Zen 6 CPU models from 192 (0xc0) to 207 (0xcf). Now, the latest update expands that range up to 239 (0xef).<\/p>\n

This change suggests that 32 new Zen 6 family models have been added. These leaks do not reveal model names, clock speeds, or core counts, but they do show that AMD is preparing support for many CPUs using this design. This likely means Linux will be able to detect new Ryzen and EPYC processors based on Zen 6.<\/p>\n

It is worth noting that some of these listed models are usually kept for internal testing or versions that may never be released to the public. So this may not mean 32 final processors, but probably a smaller number in the end.<\/p>\n

Along with CPU detection, AMD has also updated its power management controller to make sure Zen 6 works efficiently from day one. Zen 6 is expected to launch between late 2026 and early 2027.<\/p>\n
