National Science and Technology Advisory Council to Accept Public Proposals via Website Starting in June<\/h2>\n

The Presidential National Science and Technology Advisory Council will directly solicit science and technology policy agenda proposals from the public.<\/p>\n

On May 31, the National Science and Technology Advisory Council announced that, starting June 1, it will accept public submissions of science and technology advisory topics via its website.<\/p>\n

The National Science and Technology Advisory Council is the highest decision-making body in the field of science and technology, chaired by the President. It deliberates on matters such as strategies and systems for scientific and technological advancement, presidential advice, national research and development (R&D) policy directions, mid- to long-term technology acquisition strategies, improvement of R&D systems, and budget allocation.<\/p>\n

This system has been introduced to expand science and technology policy discussions, previously centered on experts, to include public participation. Anyone can propose science and technology issues or policy ideas experienced in daily life.<\/p>\n

The submitted proposals will be reviewed by the advisory council members and will be utilized to identify future science and technology advisory topics to be reported to the President.<\/p>\n
