Parents are overwhelmingly in favour of Australian-style restrictions on social media for children, the Technology Secretary has confirmed. <\/p>\n

Ministers are currently weighing up a potential ban for under-16s, following a public consultation that garnered responses from more than 80,000 individuals.<\/p>\n

One key proposal under consideration is an Australian-inspired prohibition, which would prevent children under 16 from holding social media accounts. <\/p>\n

In an interview with the Sunday Mirror, Technology Secretary Liz Kendall said a ban was \u201cdefinitely on the table\u201d as she revealed nine in 10 parents had backed Australian-style restrictions.<\/p>\n

She said: \u201cIt\u2019s been a really overwhelming response from parents, and I think parents are crying out for help and support.<\/p>\n
