Switching apps in Android Auto<\/span> isn’t the easiest thing in the world. First you have to open your app library, find the app you want, open it, and then start playing the right media. Depending on the app, that can be difficult in itself, and all together, this isn’t a process you should be following while driving, as it’s inherently distracting. <\/p>\n

So it obviously needed a big change, and Google clearly agreed, as an update is rolling out that fixes this problem.<\/p>\n

The new update allows users to swap between playing media apps by swiping on the media tile to change between apps. This is a much faster, easier, and safer way to switch between apps while driving, and it’s a huge upgrade for Android Auto-loving drivers.<\/p>\n

Whether this works if you haven’t recently opened the app is unknown. However, so you may need to go through the longer process the first time around. However, it’s far superior to the old version regardless. Previously, you would only get one card, and if you swapped from listening to Audible to Spotify, then the Audible card would disappear and be replaced by Spotify. You would then have to go back into the app library to re-open Audible if you wanted to go back to your audiobook again. Under the new update, you’d simply be able to swipe the Spotify card to get back to…<\/p>\n
