IA,\u00a0NE,\u00a0SD\u00a0(KCAU) \u2014 Artificial intelligence, or A.I., has been a growing topic of discussion over the past few years, but has been around for decades. The term was originally coined back in 1956, and it\u2019s been growing ever since, especially in the world of weather.<\/p>\n

Some people in the weather world have been working more with A.I. than others, including YouTuber and Digital Meteorologist Ryan Hall.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat a lot of people, especially my audience and people just generally in the public, don\u2019t realize is that weather forecasting is really one of the first frontiers for A.I. We\u2019ve been doing this for a long time,\u201d Hall said. \u201cMost of your weather models are A.I.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hall has even been dabbling in coding A.I. himself, creating Y\u2019allBot, which livestreams weather coverage nationwide, 24-7.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe reason why Y\u2019allBot exists is because A.I. is very interesting to me, right? Not for any other reason other than creating or trying to distill weather information and make it more accessible to the public,\u201d stated Hall when asked about why he created Y\u2019allBot. \u201cAnd all it\u2019s doing right now is taking those area forecast discussions and discussions from the National Weather Service and the Weather Prediction Center and stuff like that. And it\u2019s just turning it into packages and nice graphics and stories that it can then relay to the viewers in a very accessible way.\u201d<\/p>\n

Although there are many positives with using A.I., especially in weather, there are some downsides, including seeing some A.I.-altered weather photos being submitted as storm reports.<\/p>\n

Despite this downfall, A.I. has become a useful tool, helping meteorologists worldwide build your forecasts one day at a time.<\/p>\n
