One week after the release of Vivaldi 8.0 for desktop, Vivaldi has released corresponding updates for its mobile web browsers.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith the release of Vivaldi 8.0 on mobile, you get increased efficiency,\u201d Vivaldi co-founder and CEO Jon von Tetzcher writes. \u201cAndroid users get a new way of viewing tab stacks that desktop users have enjoyed for a while: Accordion Tabs. We made viewing PDFs more seamless than before, [you] no longer a need to open PDFs outside Vivaldi on Android devices. The update also gives you the option to hide the top line of the keyboard that displays autofill to have an even cleaner experience on iOS.\u201d<\/p>\n

As that quote suggests, these updates are relatively minor when compared to the sweeping changes that just occurred with the user interface in Vivaldi 8.0 on desktop. But there\u2019s not much the browser maker can do when a Big Tech duopoly controls mobile experiences so tightly.<\/p>\n

Vivaldi 8.0 for Android<\/h2>\n

Vivaldi 8.0 brings the following new features on Android:<\/p>\n

Accordion Tabs.<\/strong> Previously available on desktop, the Tab Stacks feature in Vivaldi that lets you have two levels of tabs now supports Accordion Tabs so you can expand tab stacks when they\u2019re active while minimizing other tab stacks. This is a more minimalist way to use Tab Stacks on mobile, without overcrowding the Tab bar.<\/p>\n

Integrated PDF support.<\/strong> Now, when you open a PDF file in Vivaldi, it will open directly in the browser instead of launching another app.<\/p>\n

Vivaldi 8.0 for iPhone and iPad<\/h2>\n

Vivaldi 8.0 brings a single new feature on iPhone and iPad:<\/p>\n

Keyboard Accessory view toggle.<\/strong> Previously available on Android, you can now hide the Keyboard Accessory view\u2013the bar above the virtual keyboard with autofill and other suggestions\u2013on iPhone and iPad as needed.<\/p>\n
