Whether one views AI as overhyped, underhyped, or indeed both, whether its trajectory ultimately proves incremental or exponential, the practical reality is that, whether they like it or not, know it or not, and even care or not, organizations have already been impacted by AI.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, even if AI development were to stall today, which is highly improbable, firms would still face years of adjustment to manage the shock AI has instilled in organizations. The current generation of tools has already introduced more complexity than most organizations can absorb or handle, forcing businesses to transform at an even higher rate than before. <\/p>\n<p>This may explain the familiar patterns we are seeing today: some firms struggle with adoption; others achieve adoption but fail to translate it into value realization; others are trying to decide whether to eliminate entry level jobs or not; some are quite bullish about reinventing themselves.
