New analysis from our Battery\u00a0StorageTech\u00a0Bankability Ratings Report shows that suppliers with higher exposure to energy storage revenue\u00a0generally recorded\u00a0stronger overall growth in 2025, as global ESS deployments accelerated and overseas markets expanded.\u00a0The report\u00a0evaluates the bankability based on\u00a0a\u00a0comparative analysis of\u00a0two key components:\u00a0financial and manufacturing,\u00a0with industry leading\u00a0figures required\u00a0in order to\u00a0reach the top tiers.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The majority of\u00a0suppliers in the top two tiers of the bankability pyramid do not have\u00a0energy storage\u00a0as\u00a0their main source of revenue, and while ESS share of total revenue has generally been increasing across all suppliers in the pyramid, CATL stands out as having this proportion\u00a0fall\u00a0slightly in 2025 to\u00a015%. However, total\u00a0ESS revenue\u00a0did increase\u00a09%.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Among the five top suppliers,\u00a0Sungrow\u00a0recorded the largest increase in ESS revenue last year, up around 49%, which accounted for\u00a0nearly 42%\u00a0of total revenue, while\u00a0PV inverter sales increased only 6.9%.\u00a0While the company has already cemented its place\u00a0on the global stage for both PV and ESS\u00a0with the delivery of multiple large-scale projects, 2025 saw this global approach pushed further.\u00a0Revenue from\u00a0mainland\u00a0China declined\u00a015%, while overseas revenue share jumped from\u00a046% in 2024 to around 60%.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Notably, the company supplied some of the world\u2019s largest battery storage projects outside China, three totalling 7.8 GWh in Saudi Arabia, that were put into commercial operation late 2025.<\/p>\n

Despite strong full-year results, Sungrow\u2019s Q4 earnings raised concerns, with YoY declines in both revenue (-18%) and net profit (-54%).<\/p>\n

This could be due to the continued fall in BESS prices due to increased competition. It could also partially be because of a jump in lithium prices and cell prices rising accordingly; as an integrator, Sungrow could be more vulnerable to fluctuating raw material costs than suppliers with…<\/p>\n
