On Wednesday, SpaceX<strong> filed its <\/strong><strong data-ga-track=\"InternalLink:https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/antoniopequenoiv\/2026\/05\/20\/elon-musks-spacex-files-for-highly-anticipated-ipo\/\">long awaited S-1<\/strong><strong>, <\/strong>revealing Elon Musk\u2019s <strong>sprawling empire spanning the rocket and satellite <\/strong>company, artificial intelligence (xAI) and social media (X). <\/p>\n<p>In 2025,<strong> SpaceX reported $18.7 billion in revenue and $4.9 billion in losses <\/strong>thanks to heavy investments in AI infrastructure. The <strong>rocket maker is expected to reach a $1.75 trillion valuation at IPO<\/strong>. The filing also revealed Musk\u2019s long term goals which include building non-Earth based, orbital datacenters and establishing a colony of a million people on Mars. Unsurprisingly, Musk, who is expected to become the world\u2019s first trillionaire after the blockbuster IPO, maintains his iron grip of control over the company with 85% of voting power. <\/p>\n<p>The filing also revealed that a fifth of X\u2019s 500 million users use its <strong>AI chatbot Grok which has in the past faced regulatory scrutiny for producing nonconsensual deepfakes.<\/strong> The company said the AI tool\u2019s \u201cspicy\u201d mode poses potential reputational and legal risks including \u201cnonconsensual or exploitative imagery\u201d and misinformation. <\/p>\n<p>Other major players like OpenAI and Anthropic are barreling towards their own IPOs. Anthropic\u2019s <strong>revenue is expected to more than double to $10.9 billion in the second quarter<\/strong>\u2014marking the first time it will <strong>turn a profit,<\/strong> the Wall Street Journal reported.
