He is scheduled to assume his new position Aug. 1.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDr. Mitch Croatt is an exciting hire for Southeastern. He has the vision, energy and student-centric focus to help position the university for the future,\u201d said Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Eric Skipper. \u201cHe understands the power of interdisciplinary collaborations to advance use-inspired research and problem solving.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Croatt currently serves as director of the Undergraduate Research, Scholarship and Creativity Office at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He previously served as the interim dean of the Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering, reporting to the provosts at both UNCG and North Carolina A&#038;T.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSoutheastern continues to attract exceptional academic leaders because of our culture of innovation, collaboration and student success,\u201d said Southeastern President William S. Wainwright. \u201cDr. Croatt\u2019s impressive record of advancing interdisciplinary research and supporting student achievement reflects the kind of forward-thinking leadership that thrives at Southeastern. Our university\u2019s demonstrated success in producing highly accomplished graduates and meaningful faculty research contributions continues to strengthen our reputation as a destination for top talent.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Croatt\u2019s administrative experience includes a seven-year tenure as department head of chemistry and biochemistry in the College of Arts and Sciences at UNCG.
