Today’s the last Monday of May, which means Memorial Day discounts have started to roll in. We’re actively scouring the interwebs for the best deals, and we’ve found a great offer for those looking for a new laptop. Apple’s excellent MacBook Air with the M5 chip is on sale with prices for both the 13-inch and 15-inch versions currently slashed by up to $200. The 13-inch base model can be had for just $899 on Amazon.<\/p>\n

The MacBook Air needs no introduction \u2014 it’s been an easy recommendation for years at this point, and with the M5 revision, you’re getting a genuinely great laptop. Everything from build quality to performance and screen to battery life is class-leading here. It’s also not as bulky as a MacBook Pro, which makes it easier to carry around if you’re a student or more convenient to travel with in general.<\/p>\n

The M5 chip is as powerful as the beefiest AMD or Intel processors, while simply outpacing them all when it comes to single-core results. Of course, it can’t really game, but for every other task, including heavier workloads like video editing, it’s more than enough, especially when paired with the 16GB of unified RAM.<\/p>\n

If you fancy a bigger screen, the 15-inch model is also on sale, starting at just $1,099, down from its $1,300 retail ask. You get all the same goodies as the 13-inch variant, but in a slightly bigger chassis that gets you a 6-speaker config instead of just 4. The weight of the device goes up from 1.24 kilograms to 1.5 kilograms, but most importantly, the base 8-core GPU inside the M5 gets upgraded to a 10-core GPU.<\/p>\n
