Girls Exploring Tomorrow\u2019s Technology recently hosted an alumni event where it launched a new initiative \u2014 the GETT Community Impact Network.<\/p>\n

The event, held at the Technical College High School\u2019s Brandywine Campus, brought together Girls Exploring Tomorrow\u2019s Technology alumni and partners as the founding members of the GETT Community Impact Network.<\/p>\n

The network\u2019s purpose is to build a platform for ongoing alumni engagement, providing opportunity for mentorship, building relationships, and nurturing the skills that are needed in STEM careers, including\u201d leadership, collaboration, communication, and creative problem-solving, organizers said in a response to questions.<\/p>\n

Girls Exploring Tomorrow\u2019s Technology \u2014 commonly known as GETT \u2014 began 25 years ago as a one-day conference to inspire Chester County girls in grades 4 through 10 to pursue careers in computer and information technology fields. It has since grown to include students from across southeastern Pennsylvania, and to focus on STEM careers in science, technology, engineering and math.<\/p>\n

The program is administered by the Innovative Technology Action Group, an initiative of the Chester County Economic Development Council.<\/p>\n

The celebration included program alumni who are in grades 10 through 12, pursuing a certificate or degree, attending college or beginning their early careers.<\/p>\n

To launch the new GETT Community Impact Network, the event featured a challenge for attendees. Guided by facilitators, alumni worked in teams to generate and refine a community impact initiative addressing food insecurity.<\/p>\n

The student participants will pilot the community impact initiative focused on impacting food insecurity and finalize the resources, which will be broadly rolled out at October\u2019s GETT event, organizers said.<\/p>\n

The activity fostered leadership, legacy, collaboration, communication, creative problem-solving, and a strong commitment to making a meaningful difference, the release stated.<\/p>\n
