Infrawatch\u00a0Ltd.<\/span>, a cybersecurity company providing intelligence about the infrastructure used by\u00a0malicious actors to help organizations stop attacks,\u00a0fraud\u00a0and online abuse,\u00a0<\/span>announced Wednesday<\/span>\u00a0it has raised $3 million in pre-seed funding.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Outward VC and TriplePoint Ventures co-led the round, with participation from Portfolio Ventures and leading fintech and cyber angel investors.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The traditional method for handling cybersecurity\u00a0surrounds\u00a0malicious\u00a0tactics and the perimeter.\u00a0What\u2019s\u00a0happening to the network at the machine level becomes the hottest flashpoint and the most important problem to handle because\u00a0that\u2019s\u00a0what\u2019s\u00a0about to cost any given corporation a lot of money in the short run. This is the nature of rules, policies,\u00a0firewalls\u00a0and reactive architecture.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

However,\u00a0Infrawatch founder and Chief Executive Lloyd Davies argues that although tactics change daily to avoid and\u00a0evolve around\u00a0defenses, hostile infrastructure is necessarily far more static and leaves a\u00a0persistent\u00a0trail. That infrastructure\u00a0can be\u00a0identified,\u00a0blocked\u00a0and mitigated before it\u2019s used at scale, providing another layer of proactive defense that is underutilized.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Infrawatch\u00a0was built to gather intelligence, providing a massive collection of real-time classification data to help organizations move from reactive monitoring to pre-emptive defense.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI know from first-hand experience how broken infrastructure intelligence is today: fragmented data, noisy feeds and taped-together workflows, where \u2018real-time\u2019 detection often means static daily updates in practice,\u201d\u00a0Davies said.\u00a0\u201cEnterprises cannot keep up by patching together narrow intelligence feeds\u00a0while the internet changes beneath them.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
