Kids can be messy. If they grab your iPhone<\/span><\/span>\u00a0they might leave a smudge on your camera lens. And it’s not always your kids’ fault, either. Adults can get dirt on your camera lens, too. So your photos might not look great and you’ll probably have to take the pic over and over again. Luckily,\u00a0iOS 26<\/span><\/span> includes a feature that can warn you when your camera lens needs cleaning, that way you don’t waste a perfectly good sunset or other Instagrammable moments.<\/p>\n

\"Tech <\/p>\n

Apple released\u00a0iOS 26<\/span><\/span>\u00a0in\u00a0September 2025<\/span><\/span>, and it brought a handful of new features to your iPhone, including\u00a0call screening<\/span><\/span>,\u00a0new ringtones<\/span><\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0more<\/span><\/span>. It also introduced an easy-to-overlook feature called Lens Cleaning Hints. When this feature is enabled, your iPhone will display a message that your camera needs to be cleaned.<\/p>\n

This feature was automatically enabled for me after I downloaded\u00a0iOS 26<\/span><\/span>\u00a0but here’s where to find it in case it’s not turned on for you. It’s important to note that it’s only available on\u00a0iPhone 15<\/span><\/span>\u00a0and later models, so if you have an\u00a0iPhone 14 Pro,<\/span><\/span>\u00a0you won’t see this option.\u00a0<\/p>\n

How to enable Lens Cleaning Hints<\/h2>\n

1.<\/strong> Tap Settings<\/strong>.
2.<\/strong> Tap Camera<\/strong>.
3.<\/strong> Tap the Lens Cleaning Hints<\/strong> toggle near the bottom of the menu.<\/p>\n

Once enabled, your iPhone will detect if its front camera lens is dirty and your device will tell you to clean it to improve your image quality. It’s a nice way to make sure you always get a good picture and it could be helpful if you let your kids play with your phone, leaving smudges all over it.\u00a0<\/p>\n
