It\u2019s never a good look for a company when you\u2019re flaunting a competitor\u2019s smartphone to demo a product on stage, but Josh Woodward, who spearheads Google Labs, Gemini app, and AI Studio, likely didn\u2019t care when he was caught demoing an iPhone 17 Pro to showcase Gemini Spark, the Mountain View giant\u2019s latest personal AI agent designed to help with productivity. Given that the company\u2019s Pixel series is a direct competitor to the iPhone, it would have been a better look when displaying company loyalty if a Pixel 10 Pro or a Pixel 10 Pro XL were being used, but everyone has their preferences.<\/p>\n

More emphasis is being given to Apple products because these are the users that matter to Google<\/h2>\n

Irrespective of whether Google\u2019s executives are getting criticized for using iPhones on stage, the fact of the matter is that services like Gemini Spark cater to these users a lot more than we\u2019d like to believe. During the keynote, we also spotted that some Macs were being used to run Gemini, and the fact that macOS will now have a dedicated app shows how important Apple\u2019s platform is, since there are millions of users who are willing to fork over a premium to use these services.<\/p>\n

In fact, the popularity of Gemini Spark is expected to skyrocket thanks to the iPhone 17, which was previously reported to be the best-selling smartphone globally in Q1 2026. In comparison, the Pixel series doesn\u2019t make up even a minor percentage of the shipments that Apple garners annually. Then again, it\u2019s highly possible that Josh Woodward simply prefers iOS over Android, which is expected to set off a heated debate, but the Google executive doesn\u2019t appear too bothered.<\/p>\n
