What happened<\/h2>\n

A federal jury in California on Monday rejected Elon Musk\u2019s high-profile lawsuit against OpenAI and its leaders, Sam Altman and Greg Brockman, because he had not filed it within the statute of limitations. U.S. District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers agreed and quickly dismissed the suit. Musk, an estranged OpenAI cofounder, had wanted his former partners forced out of their leadership roles, an unwinding of the company\u2019s conversion to a for-profit endeavor and roughly $150 billion in damages.<\/p>\n

Who said what<\/h2>\n

The quick verdict capped a three-week trial that \u201cfixated the tech world on the grievances and drama\u201d of the world\u2019s most powerful AI moguls, The Wall Street Journal said. Musk accused Altman of \u201cbetraying a shared vision\u201d of creating OpenAI as a \u201cnonprofit dedicated to guiding artificial intelligence\u2019s development for the good of humanity,\u201d The Associated Press said.<\/p>\n

What next? <\/h2>\n

The verdict \u201cpreserves the status quo\u201d in Silicon Valley\u2019s AI race and \u201cremoves one of the final roadblocks\u201d to OpenAI\u2019s expected $1 trillion initial public offering, The New York Times said. But Altman now has to \u201caddress the challenges to his reputation from some extremely personal testimony,\u201d Reuters said, including \u201cmultiple witnesses describing him as a liar.\u201d<\/p>\n
