But as I\u2019ve been weighing my own upgrade decision this year, there\u2019s one big question that likely won\u2019t be resolved until September: will the new form factor make the trade-offs of the Ultra worth it?<\/p>\n

And no matter how many specs, features, and other product details I learn, I\u2019m still not fully convinced it\u2019s the right model for me. The biggest unknown involves the form factor itself, and whether the Ultra\u2019s trade-offs will be worth it.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a question that\u2019s prompted by leaks that show a very unique design coming with iPhone Ultra. <\/p>\n

Its outer display will be significantly shorter and wider than we\u2019re used to on the iPhone. And its inner display will feel more like an iPad.<\/p>\n

iPhone Ultra will be the first ever major form factor change for the iPhone. And as such, it could run the risk of fixing something that\u2019s not broken.<\/p>\n

But it\u2019s not just the unusual design: the iPhone Ultra will have feature compromises too.<\/p>\n

Apple\u2019s high-end model won\u2019t have a Telephoto camera, nor Face ID. And with its titanium design and lack of vapor chamber, it may be prone to overheating in a way that Pro models no longer are.<\/p>\n

With iPhone 18 Pro, you get the same great iPhone experience as always, but with improved performance, cameras, battery life, and more. Essentially, it\u2019s the iPhone you know and love, but better.<\/p>\n

With iPhone Ultra, it\u2019s not at all the iPhone you know and love. It\u2019s something unique. That\u2019s exciting, but it also won\u2019t be for everyone.<\/p>\n
