America\u2019s energy system is at a pivotal moment. Advanced manufacturing, electrification, the reshoring of critical industries, and the rapid growth of artificial intelligence are <\/span>all <\/span>increasing demand for reliable electricity. Meeting that demand require<\/span>s<\/span> <\/span>reforms<\/span> <\/span>t<\/span>o<\/span> expand<\/span> <\/span>grid capacity, accelerate<\/span> <\/span>modernization<\/span> and grid <\/span>utilization<\/span>, and <\/span>ensure ratepayers reap the benefits of innovation without sacrificing affordability<\/span>.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

We are glad to see<\/span> <\/span>the <\/span>Administration <\/span>and Congr<\/span>ess<\/span> <\/span>taking this issue seriously. <\/span>The<\/span> House Energy and Commerce Committee\u2019s Energy Subcommittee <\/span>recent<\/span> <\/span>hearings focused on the power grid, transmission, and energy affordability<\/span> <\/span>help to <\/span>spo<\/span>tlight<\/span> and <\/span>reinforce the urgency of this work. <\/span>T<\/span>he message<\/span> from<\/span> <\/span>policymake<\/span>rs<\/span> is clear: America can<\/span> a<\/span>nd must<\/span> power <\/span>technological <\/span>innovation <\/span>and economic development<\/span> <\/span>while<\/span> at the same time <\/span>protect<\/span>ing<\/span> <\/span>customers<\/span> from hidden cost shifts<\/span>.<\/span> <\/span>T<\/span>o do so, <\/span>policymakers <\/span>must <\/span>w<\/span>ork with ind<\/span>ustry <\/span>to <\/span>modernize <\/span>power sector <\/span>planning, encourage cost-effective grid technologies, and remove barriers to faster deployment<\/span> of both infrastructure and non-wires solutions<\/span>.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Modern Grid Tools Can Deliver Capacity Faster<\/span> <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The<\/span> <\/span>deployment of proven technologies <\/span>can unlock more capacity, improve system performance, and reduce long-term costs<\/span>. ITI supports <\/span><\/span>the <\/span>Affordable<\/span> Innovation for the Grid Act, Advanced Transmission Technology to Reduce Rates Act,<\/span> <\/span><\/span>and <\/span>High-Capacity Grid Act<\/span> <\/span>(H.R. 6633<\/span>)<\/span><\/span>.<\/span> Together, these bills <\/span>will<\/span> help accelerate the use of modern grid technologies, including AI-enabled operating tools, advanced transmission technologies, and high-capacity conductors. <\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

The grid of the future must <\/span>also<\/span> <\/span>be more dynamic, data-driven, and efficient. AI-enabled tools can help operators better understand system conditions, manage risk, and <\/span>optimize<\/span> the resources already connected to the grid. Advanced transmission technologies and high-capacity conductors can increase transfer capability, reduce<\/span> <\/span>congestion, and make better use…<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
