According to several recent reports, Apple is already working on a special 20th-anniversary iPhone planned for 2027, and it sounds like the company is aiming for something far more aggressive than a routine refresh.

If the rumors end up being accurate, this could become Apple’s biggest iPhone redesign since the iPhone X fundamentally changed the direction of the lineup back in 2017.

The biggest focus appears to be the display itself. Bloomberg reports that Apple is developing a design where the glass curves continuously around all four edges of the phone, creating a much more seamless appearance than the flatter industrial design used on recent iPhones. Instead of a clearly defined border between the screen and the frame, the goal seems to be making the display feel like it wraps around the hardware almost entirely.

At the same time, The Information says Apple has internally tested prototypes with extremely thin bezels and only a narrow metal band remaining around the sides of the device where the physical buttons are located. The company is also reportedly continuing its push toward a completely uninterrupted screen with no visible camera cutouts or Face ID hardware.

That last part is likely the biggest technical challenge. Apple has been rumored to be working toward under-display Face ID and selfie camera technology for years, but hiding those components without sacrificing image quality or sensor accuracy has proven difficult across the entire smartphone industry. Whether Apple can fully pull it off by 2027 is still uncertain.

Still, the overall direction here feels different from the typical annual rumor cycle. Apple doesn’t usually reserve this level of design ambition for a normal update year, and the 20th-anniversary branding gives the company a reason to do something…

Source

Why Some iPhone Users May Want to Skip the Next Upgrade Cycle https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/why-iphone-users-may-want-004500850.html Publish Date:…

[120

post-245548","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-iphone
