Digital privacy standard<\/h3>\n

In South Carolina\u2019s booming housing market, finding a dream home often comes down to timing and price. But a patchwork of privacy laws could put up barriers for real estate agents like me, making it harder to find homes for first-time homebuyers and growing families alike. A strong, uniform federal privacy standard can help protect consumer privacy while preserving the digital tools we rely on that connect S.C. families with the homes that fit their needs and budgets.<\/p>\n

Digital advertising is my trusted tool. It lets me connect directly with first-time buyers, growing families and newcomers moving to our state, all while respecting their privacy. I depend on affordable, targeted online advertisements to give South Carolinians options that fit their pocketbooks in a competitive market.<\/p>\n

But if every state sets its own privacy rules, small businesses like mine could face higher costs and spend more time dealing with red tape than delivering help to homebuyers. By restricting the tools at my disposal, it takes away my ability to reach the citizens who need my services the most and compete in the marketplace in an affordable manner.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s why I\u2019m calling on U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson, as well as U.S. Sens. Tim Scott and Lindsey Graham, to support a strong federal digital privacy standard that protects consumers and ensures real estate agents can keep using the digital tools that help our communities grow. Let\u2019s protect the dream of homeownership within reach and keep South Carolina\u2019s small businesses moving forward.<\/p>\n

South Carolina has evolved. It\u2019s time for the\u00a0South Carolina Independent School Association to evolve as well.<\/p>\n

SCISA was founded in 1965 with seven member schools in response to desegregation, originally serving many of the state\u2019s “segregation academies.” While I am not suggesting the organization exists for that…<\/p>\n
