It’s time to update your Android Auto again. Google has just released a new beta build to testers, so if you want to try out the latest changes before everybody else, this is the right time to do so.<\/p>\n

Android Auto 16.9 beta is now up for grabs, even if you’re not enrolled in the beta program. Users can download the stand-alone APK installer from this page, save the file on their device, and initiate the update by simply tapping it using a file manager.<\/p>\n

The process is fast and simple and does not require removing the existing Android Auto installation from your device. All files are replaced automatically.<\/p>\n

Android Auto 16.9 beta doesn\u2019t come with any front-facing changes, so the focus continues to be on under-the-hood changes. This isn’t necessarily a surprise, as all previous betas suggested Google is working on a bigger Android Auto update that could eventually launch later this year, possibly around this year’s I\/O developer conference.<\/p>\n

This is the first build shipped by Google after opening the beta program once again. Users discovered this week that the Android Auto beta program allowed new registrations, although it wasn’t clear if Google made more seats available or just removed inactive accounts.<\/p>\n

Some of those who enrolled in the program and installed the first beta build they were offered revealed that Gemini was instantly enabled on their device, replacing Google Assistant. Others claimed they received the new wavy progress bar in media apps.<\/p>\n

There’s still no guarantee that installing a beta build as part of the Android Auto beta program provides you with any of these features.<\/p>\n

However, you should also know that running Android Auto beta builds comes with an increasing likelihood of issues.
