(OTCQB: NEWH) has reported progress toward commercializing its heat-based water-splitting technology, ThermoLoop. According to a May 5, 2026 announcement obtained by Hydrogen Central, the company has completed its research phase and is entering the engineering phase for commercialization.<\/p>\n<p>This transition follows the successful completion of Stage Gate One, a pre-pilot plant test. Based on its internal review and published literature, NewHydrogen stated it is not aware of any other heat-based water-splitting technology that has achieved the same combination of performance and engineering criteria.<\/p>\n<p>NewHydrogen has also initiated a strategic collaboration with NuCube Energy, Inc., which is developing the NuSun compact solid-state fission reactor. This microreactor system is described as factory-fabricated, designed for rapid deployment and inherent safety, and capable of producing high-temperature heat of up to 1,100 degrees Celsius. NuCube was recently selected for the U.S. Department of Energy Launch Pad USA Program.<\/p>\n<p>Under a memorandum of understanding, the two companies will work together to explore integrating their respective clean energy technologies. The CEO of NewHydrogen stated that high-temperature heat is essential for realizing the full economic potential of thermochemical hydrogen production, and that NuCube&#8217;s reactor design could serve as a compelling heat source for ThermoLoop. He added that the company has significantly accelerated its commercialization pace in recent months, with the engineering team focused on building a dedicated ThermoLoop engineering test unit to determine commercial pilot plant specifications.
