B&W Chief Technology Officer Brandy Johnson highlights how B&W is addressing energy challenges in Power Engineering article<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n

In a recent interview with Power Engineering, Babcock & Wilcox (B&W) Chief Technology Officer Brandy Johnson discussed two urgent trends in power generation: 1) the need for new capacity to meet demand brought on by AI growth, cloud computing and grid infrastructure stability, and 2) the need to maintain existing units for extended availability.<\/p>\n

She highlighted how B&W is uniquely positioned to address both.<\/p>\n

Rapidly deployable boiler and steam turbine packages with existing and proven B&W-engineered designs can be used to quickly and reliably power data centers as an alternative to traditional gas turbines that are facing long lead schedules.<\/p>\n

At the same time, many plant owners are pushing out plant retirement dates and taking on life-extension projects that require engineering studies, condition assessments, replacement parts and field services.<\/p>\n

Optionality, speed-to-market, capacity and stability are all critical factors in project decisions. B&W is making the case that these do not have to be competing priorities.<\/p>\n
