Disney has revealed how its theme parks and other businesses plan to use artificial intelligence (AI)<\/strong> in its latest earnings report.<\/p>\n

During the company’s second-quarter earnings call this week, new CEO Josh D\u2019Amaro<\/strong> and CFO Hugh Johnston<\/strong> spoke about using AI to optimise and personalise theme park visits.<\/p>\n

D’Amaro said Disney is harnessing AI “to reduce the complexities around planning and booking a trip and trying to make that whole experience specifically tailored to what our guests want most”.<\/p>\n

“We see a significant opportunity to make it easier for families to plan their trip to optimize all the time with us, and to personalize their experience,” said D’Amaro.<\/p>\n

On using AI for workforce productivity, Johnston discussed Disney’s initiative “to implement precision labor demand forecasting across our theme parks<\/span><\/strong>“.<\/p>\n

“We think that has the potential to create a better guest experience, a better employment experience, and also better cost management for the company,” he added. <\/p>\n

In a letter<\/strong> to shareholders released alongside its quarterly earnings, D’Amaro and Johnston wrote: “We view advanced technologies, including AI, as a meaningful long-term opportunity. <\/p>\n

“We see opportunities for AI to play a role across five areas of our business: content creation and production, monetization, workforce productivity, guest and consumer experiences, and enterprise operations. <\/p>\n

“At the same time, we are committed to implementing AI in a way that keeps human creativity at the center of everything we do and respects creators and the value of our intellectual property.”<\/p>\n

D’Amaro and Johnston also said the company “will not proceed with our previously planned investment” in OpenAI<\/strong> after it shut down its video-generation app Sora.<\/p>\n

“We continue to explore potential commercial opportunities with OpenAI and others,” they wrote.<\/p>\n

Alongside its latest financial results, Disney confirmed its plans for a theme park in Abu Dhabi remain “unchanged”<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
