France Identit\u00e9, the French government\u2019s mobile app for digital identity verification, has made its sandbox build available in iOS.<\/p>\n

Writing on LinkedIn, technical director Anthony Carmoy says \u201cthis means that early testers can now experiment with France Identit\u00e9 sandbox builds on both Android and iOS, and validate concrete end-to-end flows across the two main mobile ecosystems.\u201d<\/p>\n

Carmoy says both Android and iOS sandbox builds now support OID4VP 1.0, \u201cto support interoperability testing with relying parties and verifiers preparing for the European Digital Identity Wallet.\u201d<\/p>\n

France Identit\u00e9 is working on adding more credentials and supported protocols to progressively expand testing possibilities.<\/p>\n

The team behind the French identity app has been busy lately, announcing last month a successful first \u2018unlinkability\u2019 test for age assurance in real conditions, in which no tracking warnings were detected on the age proof.<\/p>\n

A post from Florent Tournois, director of identity at France Identit\u00e9 says this effectively delivers on the app\u2019s privacy by design promise.<\/p>\n

On its website, the Age Verification Providers Association (AVPA) notes that \u201cFrance has one of the most developed and enforceable age-verification regimes in the European Union. The framework is primarily focused on preventing minors from accessing online pornographic content, supported by criminal law, sector-specific legislation, and active regulatory enforcement.\u201d<\/p>\n

France is associated with the double-blind method for age assurance, having written the requirement into its adult content legislation: at least one offered method for age assurance must operate such that the adult platform knows nothing about the user except that they are allowed in, and the age assurance provider has no way to know which sites a user is visiting.<\/p>\n

Legislation on age restrictions for social media is likely coming, as well.<\/p>\n
