Apple released\u00a0iOS 26<\/span><\/span>\u00a0in September, and that update brought a\u00a0Liquid Glass<\/span><\/span>\u00a0redesign to your iPhone<\/span><\/span>. The redesign makes elements of your iPhone transparent, and it also allows you can make your app icons and widgets on your home screen clear. These home screen changes build on the customization options Apple introduced to the iPhone with\u00a0iOS 18<\/span><\/span>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Apple released\u00a0iOS 18<\/span><\/span>\u00a0in 2024 and it brought a major (and long overdue) change to your iPhone: the ability to customize your home screen. With iOS 18, you can remove app labels, change app icon colors and arrange apps in new ways around your screen. You can frame your wallpaper with apps or give your iPhone a more personal touch with different color themes.<\/p>\n

Here are the ways you can customize your home screen to make it as fun and unique as you are.<\/p>\n

How to remove app labels<\/h2>\n

1.<\/strong> Long-press on your background to enter jiggle mode — where your apps are all shaking.
2.<\/strong> Tap Edit<\/strong> in the top left corner of your screen.
3.<\/strong> Tap Customize<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

4.<\/strong> Tap the two different-sized squares in the top-right corner of the new menu that appears at the bottom of your screen.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Your app icons will grow and the labels beneath them will disappear. This looks much cleaner to me: I don’t plan on displaying app labels ever again.<\/p>\n

If you don’t like this, follow the above steps again and tap the different sized squares once more. The apps will revert to their normal size and the labels will reappear.<\/p>\n

How to change the color of your app icons and widgets<\/h2>\n

1.<\/strong> Long-press on your background to enter jiggle mode — where your apps are shaking.
2.<\/strong> Tap Edit<\/strong> in the top left corner of your screen.
3.<\/strong> Tap Customize<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Then you can choose between Default<\/strong>, Dark<\/strong>, Clear<\/strong> and Tinted<\/strong> app icons and widgets.\u00a0<\/p>\n
