Valve last week announced the 4th of May release date and the $99 USD pricing for this controller.\n<\/p>\n<p>The $99 price may be high for some users but is a high quality controller and at least not as much as the $160 ASUS gaming controller or other alternatives. The new Steam Controller features magnetic thumbsticks, 4 x haptic motors, 8.39 Wh battery, and supports wireless and wired operation.\n<\/p>\n<p>The Steam Controller on Linux will work with games via the Steam Runtime. So far we haven&#8217;t seen any Linux kernel patches around HID driver support for the new Steam Controller outside of Steam.<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.phoronix.net\/image.php?id=2026&#038;image=new_steam_controller\" alt=\"Steam Controller\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Those interested in buying the Steam Controller can find it now available SteamPowered.com.
